Our ceramic EGGs are heavy and not easily moved without a metal Nest or a wooden table, both available with casters. Either one raises the EGG® to a comfortable working height. Tables also provide convenient work space, as do EGG Mates, optional wooden fold-down shelves that attach to the Nest.

Tables

We offer two different models of tables, Long and Compact, with EGG openings for all sizes but the Mini. Our tables are made from Cypress which is a beautiful, straight-grained wood, excellent for outdoor uses. It contains cypressene, a naturally occurring preservative that protects the tree from decay and insects. Cypress, a member of the Sequoia Redwood family, is a slow growing tree with wood that is very durable and stable. This wood comes from responsibly managed forests.

Custom Cooking Island

The Big Green Egg Custom Cooking Island, “Backyard Chef Edition,” is available in a 76 in / 1.9 m length. Designed for XLarge and Large EGGs, the Island features high-quality aluminum and steel construction with solid stainless door pulls, heavy duty roller shelves, ample storage cabinets for charcoal and utensils and a durable, weather resistant powder coated finish.

The unique rounded contours of the cabinet and top counter design, which are exclusive to Big Green Egg, create a functional accessory that adds a striking design to any backyard! Long Tables

We have Long Cypress tables for the Medium, Large and XL EGGs. They are available with or without casters. The dimensions for the Long table are 59.5 inches x 24.5 inches and it is 32 inches tall. This size provides ample working and serving room right next to your EGG.

XL Tables

The XL Table is designed just for the XL EGG. It is 60.5 inches x 31.5 inches and it is 32 inches tall. It is only available with 4 casters.

Compact Tables

Compact tables are available for the Small, Medium and Large EGGs. They are 41 inches x 24.5 inches and are 32 inches tall. They are available with or without casters.

Nests

Nests are available for the Small, Medium, Large and XL EGGs. A low tripod stand is available for the Mini EGG and Chiminea.

Side Shelves

Composite material EGG Shelves are available for the Small, Medium, Large and XL EGGs. Two shelves are included, one on each side of the EGG, and you can fold the shelves down when not in use. An optional third middle shelf is available for the Large and XL EGGs.

Wooden EGG Mates are available for the Medium, Large and XL EGGs. Two shelves are included, one on each side of the EGG. You can fold the shelves down when not in use, or to fit the EGG under the optional Vinyl Cover.

Grill Covers

Vinyl Covers are available for all of the EGGs in Nests except for the Mini. They are also available for all sizes of EGGs in Tables.

Ventilated Vinyl Covers are made of a heavier material and have an integrated vent to allow moisture to escape.

Fire Starters

Our Fire Starters are made from sawdust and paraffin and are very effective for quickly and easily lighting lump charcoal without imparting a chemical taste. A box contains 24 cubes. The Electric Starter, if you prefer that method of lighting, will light the charcoal in about eight minutes.

Eggcelerator

We are pleased to introduce our new product, the EGGcelerator! The EGGcelerator fans the lump charcoal at initial lighting for faster start-up times, especially in high altitude situations. The unit easily attaches onto the draft door of the XLarge, Large or Medium EGGs. Once the EGG® has obtained the desired cooking temperature, the unit is switched off and removed. The EGGcelerator requires 8 AA Batteries (not included), an optional power adapter will be available soon.

Grilling Planks

Plank cooking is an ancient culinary method which originated with the American Indians. The longstanding tradition of cooking on a plank has evolved into a popular at-home grilling technique that adds a whole new dimension to your grilling experience. Foods roast in their own juices, keeping meats, seafood and vegetables moist and infusing them with magnificent flavors as they absorb the fragrant wood smoke. The planks must be soaked in water for at least an hour before placing them on the cooking grid. This ensures they will smolder, which produces the best smoke flavor, and it keeps them from burning up quickly during cooking.

Natural Lump Coal

Big Green Egg charcoal is made from a selection of 100% hardwoods. We do not add petroleum products and chemicals to our charcoal, since they can adversely affect the flavor of food. Natural lump charcoal burns hotter and cleaner and lights faster and easier than briquettes (briquettes often contain chemical additives, coal, limestone, paper binders, sawdust, starch or scrap lumber). Never use lighter fluid; with the use of either our electric lighter or our natural fire starters, lump charcoal is ready in minutes. The thick ceramic walls make the EGG very fuel efficient; you’ll use less lump charcoal than you would if cooking with briquettes. Another advantage of pure lump charcoal is that it leaves little ash so less frequent cleaning out of the ash is required. When you finish cooking, just close the dampers to snuff out the fire and you’ll preserve any unburned charcoal for your next cookout. To reuse, simply stir the remaining charcoal to allow ash to fall under the fire grate, add a few handfuls of fresh charcoal, and you’re ready to go.

Aromatic Smoking Woods

Aromatic smoking woods are actually a very desirable form of seasoning because they add sumptuous flavor without adding any fat or calories. The wood smoke alters the taste of the food, resulting in a distinctive new flavor. As you master the art of smoking, you will learn how to mix and match the foods and woods for the most compatible combinations. You will also find personal favorites that your family especially enjoys; keep a record of those combinations, but remember experimenting is half the fun when it comes to smoking.

There are many types of wood that are appropriate for smoking, but hardwoods are the most desirable. (Softer woods such as pine or cedar should never be used because they contain high levels of tar and resins that will coat the food and impart a bitter flavor.) Fruit and nut tree woods like apple, cherry, maple, pecan, oak and hickory are traditional favorites of famous pitmasters and backyard barbecuers alike. Since each type of wood reacts differently with each type of meat or food, the flavor combinations that result are endless. It pays to get acquainted with the wood flavors so you know which ones are pungent and pair best with more distinctive meats, poultry and fish and which ones work best with the milder flavored meats or vegetables

Plate Setters

The Plate Setter is used for indirect cooking on the Big Green Egg. It is a ceramic heat shield that functions by providing a barrier between the food and the fire. The design of the Plate Setter (a flat ceramic disc with three “legs”) allows sufficient airflow around the surface while preventing the flames and direct heat of the fire from reaching the food. Nothing will contribute greater versatility to your outdoor cooking than adding a Plate Setter to your accessories collection.

The Plate Setter can be used several different ways, with the legs facing up or down. With the legs facing down, the legs rest directly on the Fire Ring and the Plate Setter provides a cooking surface at the lip level of the bottom half of the Big Green Egg. In this position you place a baking stone on top of the Plate Setter and, in effect, turn the Big Green Egg into a brick oven. This set-up is great for pizza, bread, pie or any other dish that you would bake. Chocolate chip cookies are a favorite on the Big Green Egg.

The Plate Setter can also be placed on the Fire Ring with the legs facing up. In this position, simply place the cooking grid on the three ceramic legs and turn your Big Green Egg into a convection oven. You can place a roast directly on the cooking grid or in a V-Rack. Clean up is easy because the ceramic Plate Setter is self cleaning from the heat inside the EGG®, but you can also set a Drip Pan directly on the Plate Setter.

In the legs up position, you can add one of several Grill Extenders to the cooking grid; you now have multiple levels of cooking. With the convection effect of the Plate Setter, all levels of meat will cook evenly without turning.

If you are cooking an oversized turkey on a Vertical Turkey Roaster, take out the Fire Ring and place the Plate Setter on the Fire Box with the legs up. This lowers the cooking surface to give you much more room for an extra large turkey.

Whether you are baking or roasting, the Plate Setter is a great EGGcessory and it should be one of the first supplementary purchases you make!

The Plate Setter for the XL is slightly different than the others. The XL Plate Setter has shorter legs to better fit the dome of the XL EGG. It can be used in the standard configuration or it can be inserted between the Fire Box and the Fire Ring to provide for more air flow if desired.

Baking Stone

The Half Moon Baking Stone turns your EGG into a fire brick oven, great for making breads, desserts and other baked items. With the Half Moon Baking Stone, you can cook indirect on one half of the cooking grid, while keeping the other half of the grid available for roasting meats or vegetables.

Grill Gripper

The Grill Gripper is used to easily and safely remove the cooking grid from the EGG® even when it is hot.

Ash Tool

An Ash Tool is used to remove the ash that collects at the bottom of the EGG. Using the bar at the end of the Ash Tool, you simply pull the ash out of the Stainless Steel Draft Door into a fireproof receptacle that can be easily emptied.

Egg Ash Pan

Although the natural lump charcoal used to fuel the EGG produces little ash and requires minimal clean-up to begin with, the task becomes even easier with the new EGG Ash Pan. The wide-mouthed, metal Ash Pan can be hooked onto the vent door directly against the base of the grill. Ashes are then scraped into the practical tool just as you would with a dust pan. The pan slides out easily, allowing you to dispose of ashes with greater convenience and no mess. The EGG Ash Pan fits the XLarge, Large or Medium EGGs.

Stick and Stay Thermometer

When inserted into the center of the meat as you begin cooking, the Stick and Stay Thermometer will let you monitor the internal temperature during the cooking period and tell when your meat is cooked to the desired doneness.

Instant Read Thermometer

This thermometer is inserted into food for a quick reading of the internal temperature of food, then removed immediately. A glass bezel and red dial provide for easy temperature reading.

Instant Digital Read Thermometer

The Instant Read Digital Thermometer gives you a quick digital readout of the internal temperature of foods. This thermometer should be removed immediately after reading it.

Digital Probe Thermometer

This premium unit allows you to insert the probe into the food and extend the wire out between the base and the lid of the EGG to monitor the temperature from the outside with a digital readout. You have the ability to set low and high temperature alarms and it has a built-in timer.

Cast Iron Grid

For those perfect sear marks on your food, try a Cast Iron Grid as an alternative to the primary Porcelain Coated Grid. The cast iron gets very hot and retains the heat, turning it into a perfect searing surface. Cast Iron Grids are available for the Large, Medium and Small EGGs. A half-moon Cast Iron Grid is available for the XL EGG®. This can be paired with a half-moon Porcelain Grid to retain a full grid.

Vertical Roaster

Vertical roasters will hold a chicken or turkey upright during cooking, minimizing the space needed and ensuring even browning and cooking of the birds. It also makes for easier carving and a spectacular presentation at the table. Sittin’ Chicken can be used the same way as the vertical roasters, but the center holds liquid such as fruit juice or beer to add moisture and flavor to the roasting chicken.

Grill Extenders

Grill extenders are available in single-tier or 3-tier versions to substantially increase the amount of cooking space on your EGG. The multiple tier extenders also raise some foods high in the dome, providing increased heat during roasting and baking.

Half Moon Grids

There are several ways that you can configure the raised grid with inserted drip pan. First, use the raised grid only to give you the ability to cook directly on one side of the grill and indirectly on the other side. Second, use the raised grid with a plate setter, which will give full use of the main grid for indirect cooking and a raised grid for vegetables or more meat. Third, use the raised grid with a plate setter and a half moon baking stone, to allow you to bake bread while you are cooking vegetables and meat on the open side of the main grid.

Dual Purpose V-Rack

Our dual purpose V-Rack can be used upright to hold roasts and poultry and can be flipped over to serve as an efficient rib rack that can hold up to six vertically placed racks of ribs in much less space than if they were cooked horizontally. Big Green Egg Grid Cleaner

Dual Function Metal Top

Although a ceramic top is included with the Big Green Egg, many cooks prefer to use the Dual Function Metal Top which has two controls to allow for precise temperature setting. There is a larger slide for broad temperature changes and a smaller daisy wheel for finer adjustments. Spring Assisted Band

Opening and closing the EGG is easy with the use of the Spring-Assisted Band. The lid can be held open with one hand without having to use any type of locking mechanism. Comes with all sizes except Mini.

Replacement Felt Gasket Kits

Replacement felt gasket kits are available for all of the EGGs. They come with easy to follow directions and enough self-adhesive gasket material to cover the rim of both the Lid and the Base. The gasket material will melt at 1100°F so be sure and pay attention during high-temperature cooking.

The new and improved Instruction Manual that comes with your EGG® will also have the green Warranty Card which you should fill out and return to the Company. This book provides general instructions for the EGG and contains a collection of tried and true “Getting Started” recipes.

The EGGtoberfest Cookbook provides a collection of recipes, some more complex, that are generously shared by the many EGGheads who cook their favorites for everyone to taste at the Annual Atlanta EGGtoberfest.

DVDs

The CD/DVD that comes with all new EGGs is a DVD on one side and an interactive CDROM on the other side. It is designed to tell you virtually anything you need to know about the EGG, from unpacking and assembly to lighting the charcoal, learning how to control temperatures, suggestions for smoking foods, and use of the various EGGcessories. Highly regarded chef Kevin Rathbun, who owns several topnotch restaurants in Atlanta, also demonstrates a number of easy recipes to familiarize EGG owners with the various cooking techniques that can be employed when cooking in the EGG.

This CD/DVD can be played in a regular DVD player or using your computer’s CDROM drive. The advantage of the CDROM version is that you can also print recipes or instructions you wish to use.

We also offer an EGGtoberfest DVD that gives you a peek at the fun and camaraderie shared by those attending our festive annual celebration. You’ll see the variety of foods cooked at the event on hundreds of EGGs and you’ll hear interviews with many of our enthusiastic EGGheads.
